The Three

Standing since 824-950AD,
the Three Pagodas were built
to protect the area from
dragons. As none have been
seen since it must have
worked! On a more serious
note, these pagodas have
stood the test of time -
surviving several
earthquakes while most
buildings in the area
crumbled. The ChongSheng
Temple was once the Royal
Temple of the Kingdom of
Dali and one of the largest
Buddhist centres in South
East Asia.
