"Best hostel I've stayed at in years... warm and welcoming staff, huge and immaculate
rooms with loads of thoughtful extras and even private DVD player. Amazing place and one
that will prompt you spend a lot more unanticipated time in Dali."

"Definitely an impressive little place. The building is beautifully done, the room
was super clean, spacious with comfy bed and nice furniture. Good shower,
nice and cheap food. Court yard is a lovely place to relax with plenty of chairs,
a pool table etc. Location was good: just 5 minute walk to the bars and restaurants
in the old town. Staff speaks good english and are helpful. Wifi connection in room was good.
Great place, highly recommended: do stay here!!..."

"One of the best hostels we stayed in. Great staff with real value added service,
great location and excellent accommodation. If you intend to stay in Dali, that's
definitely the place ! And be careful, the boss is excellent at pool game......"

"The Jade Emu is the best place we've stayed in so far in the past 6 weeks.
The staff are extremely nice and friendly, lovely cheap breakfast, excellent
fun atmosphere. We had a double room for 2 nights and wish it was for longer.
The room was large and immaculate, and more like a 3 star hotel at least.
Fantastic value. You should definitely stay here."

"The best hostel in China! Totally charming place with great staff
and a lovely owner, dave, who helped us out with lots of stuff. The rooms
are very clean with massive beds and there's loads of things to do.
Oh, and free and very fast internet."

"I've been there for a couple of days, the staff are max friendly the
atmosphere is great especially in the evening (great pool and dart games)
and additionaly the rooms are really clean and confortable. i stayed in
a 3 bed doorm and can just recommend this place. Food is excellent as well!

Guest House would have deserved it. Wonderful place, great staff,

"My wife and I both agree that this hostel is the very best hostel
that we have stayed in during our last two months of hosteling around
China and Japan. It has spacious rooms that are clean and very comfortable.
The young couple running this hostel do everything they can to make your
stay a pleasant one. We spent two nights here and plan to come back on our
way through from Lijiang."

"A beautiful and really well-equipped, new hostel. Very friendly and clean.
Kindly kept our luggage secure for a day or two despite the fact that we
only stayed with them for one night. Also hired high-quality bikes from them
for a very small fee (even by Chinese standards!). Highly recommended."

"To Dave and the wonderful Jade Emu staff: I've spent an amazing couple of days
at the Jade Emu and super enjoyed it. Definitely the best and nicest guesthouse
in China. I hope I will get a chance to come back to Dali one day just to spend
some more time here. As Dave says... 'it's like a vacation from your vacation'.

"Fantastic place. David, as a seasoned backpacker, knows what makes a
great hostel and has thought of every extra you could ever want. April,
who works on reception, is brilliant and could teach 5-star hotel staff
a thing or two. By far the best hostel I've stayed at in China and possibly
the best ever."
